Austrian rider and occasional racer Andreas Burgschachner – or simply ‘Andi’ to his mates – is all about the SUPER DUKE lifestyle. Having discovered just how well the big naked bike handles on the track, he has dedicated his time to introducing other SUPER DUKE R owners to the racetracks of Europe.

As an Austrian, Andreas is no newbie when it comes to KTM. In fact, he grew up a mere stone’s throw from the KTM HQ in Mattighofen, and even though he only started his motorcycling career at the age of 18, Andreas has honed his skills on the track, with his weapon of choice being a 2020 KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R.

For Andi, riding a SUPER DUKE is more than simply choosing a KTM to ride – it’s about dedicating yourself to an entirely new way of life. As he puts it, he lives “GETDUKED” every single day, always giving 110% in everything he does.

But more than that, Andi says it was the SUPER DUKE and KTM community which really brought it all together for him. “There are so many great Orange Bleeders, who all live and breathe KTM. They have a wealth of knowledge and never turn down an opportunity to get together and ride” he says.

This prompted Andreas to start a WhatsApp group for local SUPER DUKE riders to keep in touch and plan outrides, but it quickly became a 170-member strong community of ‘SUPER DUKERS’, creating the perfect platform for sharing skills, videos and technical information.

Many of these riders, says Andreas, live for thrashing their SUPER DUKES around racetracks, with an upcoming track day in Brno featuring no less than 40 skilled KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R riders. Now if that’s not something to scare off the inline fours, we don’t know what will.
