VIENNA – FOREST – WATER – Part 1

A heat wave like we’ve not had in years – and the summer break is still so far away. But the 690 DUKE is ours for two weeks. We will conquer the city, escape to the forest and dive into the water.

The longest race

In 1981, Welshman Elfed Weaver crashed out of a race at the Snetterton circuit in England and woke up paralyzed. Adjusting to life in a wheelchair was one thing, the inability to do what he loved most turned Elfed away from bikes. But the desire to race never left and – 34 years later – he’s back on the grid.

DUKE IT!

From 125 to 1301cc, the current KTM DUKE range is as wide-ranging and diverse as ever in 2015. The KTM BLOG attended the ‘DUKE IT’ media event in Thailand to ride the six-strong line-up back-to-back and found out more about the many changes that KTM’s first global superstar – the 390 DUKE – receives this year.

KTM stuntrider Rok Bagoroš is Robbie Williams´ stuntman

Slovenian KTM factory stuntrider Rok Bagoroš did some amazing stunts in the commercial of the Swiss coffee brand Café Royal replacing the famous musician and entertainer Robbie Williams.

#inthisyear1994: Start of production for new DUKE range … just DUKE it!

Statistically speaking, you spend 22.37 years of your life in bed. Another 16.63 years are spent at work and you’re ill for 4.29 years …. That leaves about 5.2 years for DUKE riding. All in all, not too bad an outlook. Just DUKE it! Advertising for a motorcycle may have been unusual 20 years ago, but so was the motorcycle.

Rok Bagoroš: My way back

Injuries are the worst thing that can happen to a sportsman. Slovenian Freestyle pro Rok Bagoroš learned that the hard way. The prolonged recovery process he documented in a watchable video.

The rider’s rider: Aaron Colton defies bike behaviour

While the KTM factory riders grab headlines in their respective sports at any one time around the world there are those that gas a slightly different line in orange; usually one that is just as eye-catching but perhaps not so prevalent in the headlines. Therefore, we are happy to focus onto American Freestyler Aaron Colton.

On your marks: LC4 Triathlon gets out of the blocks

The sumptuous 690s are gathered together for their own special meeting in the Catalan capital. Here is what happened in Barcelona.

EICMA 2012: Last morsel – the 690 DUKE R

We’ve still to look at the Red Bull Rookies machine for 2013 (that will be done with a bit of help from Sandro in the coming days) but the last streetbike we wanted to highlight from the EICMA show in Milan is the new 690 DUKE R.

European Junior Cup: The ‘Orange’ Ladder

Racers don’t grow on trees. Budding talent needs to be nurtured and encouraged with care on what is hopefully an upward career trajectory. The European Junior Cup is a fresh showcase for emerging skill.
